I GOT THIS (IGT) FOUNDATION is a 501(C)(3) dedicated to delivering golf instruction and playing opportunities for people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities.
The IGT FOUNDATION was inspired by Amy Bockerstette, a disabilities advocate with Down syndrome who burst onto the scene when she parred the famed 16th hole of the 2019 WM Phoenix Open playing alongside PGA TOUR player and 2019 U.S. Open Champion, Gary Woodland.
The IGT Golf Camp is the Foundation’s flagship program, as athletes ages 13+ with intellectual disabilities enjoy a 5-week introduction to golf, led by professional golf instructors.
The specially designed curriculum, which serves to build confidence and a love for the game of golf, includes an introduction to golf basics; golf equipment; golf Instruction (drive, chip, putt), and much more. The culmination of the I GOT THIS Golf Camp is a Skills Showcase where athletes have an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities alongside their playing partners, in front of family, friends, and sponsors.
The I GOT THIS Golf Camp Format
- Five-week unified instruction includes athlete/playing partner
- 2 hour program week 1 - week 4 | 2.5 hour program week 5
- Week 5 includes a Skills Showcase for athletes and families
- No equipment or previous golf experience necessary
San Marcos is pleased to announce The I GOT THIS Foundation has partnered with Touchstone Golf and the Touchstone Golf Foundation for the national launch of the I GOT THIS Golf Academy. The academy is the heart of the I GOT THIS mission to provide professional golf instruction to athletes with intellectual disabilities. The program consists of 10 hours of instruction over a five week period teaching grip, posture, stance, building motion as well as chipping, putting and driving the ball.
Touchstone Golf will host beginner I GOT THIS Golf Academies at San Marcos Golf Resort (AZ), Chula Vista Golf Course (CA), Lady Bird Johnson Municipal (TX), Stonebridge Golf Club of New Orleans (LA), Presidio Golf Course (CA), Colonial Park Golf Course (NM), Grey Rock Golf Club (TX), Rancho Carlsbad Golf Club(CA) and Applewood Golf Course (CO).
